France

Irene was born in Hamilton and was privileged to grow up in a Christian Family. She committed her life to Christ as a Child. From a Young age God put a desire in her heart to train as a Midwife and serve him overseas. She now works for 'International Teams' in Strasburg, France. She knows that by meeting people's physical and spiritual needs, she will be able to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ and introduce others to him.
International Teams is an evangelical mission agency, mobilising international teams of Christians to share the love of Jesus with people all around the world. International teams has approx 500 Missionaries serving in 40 countries. www.iteams.org
Why go to France?
- Only 20% of its 57.5 million population have ever held a Bible in their hands and only 6% own one.
- Strasburg is on the French - German border and attracts people from several different countries, including many refugees from Africa, Asia and Middle East.
- In partnership with a local Christian church, the team uses a centre called 'Le Phare' (The Lighthouse) as a base. It enables them to meet the locals and refugees; build relationships and offer practical help e.g. providing transport, second hand clothes, shoes or household items; giving food; help with family, immigration, medical or housing matters.
